Synthetic Refrigeration Compressor Oils

Synthetic compressor oil provides superior thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and low-temperature fluidity compared to standard mineral basestocks. These synthetic fluids resist carbon build-up and varnish formation while extending oil-drain intervals in demanding commercial and industrial systems operating under severe temperature swings.

While both lubricate compressors, refrigerant oils are engineered for strict chemical compatibility and solubility with specific refrigerant gases. Standard compressor oils can react negatively with refrigerants, form harmful sludge, lose viscosity, or freeze inside cooling evaporators where temperatures drop significantly.

Polyol ester synthetic lubricants are primarily designed for use with hydrofluorocarbon refrigerants and blended systems. They offer excellent solubility and miscibility to facilitate proper oil return from system evaporators back into the compressor sump.

Available base chemistries include polyol ester, polyalkylene glycol, and synthetic alkylbenzene formulations. Selecting the correct chemistry depends on the refrigerant gas used, such as HFC, HCFC, CFC, CO2, or natural hydrocarbon refrigerants like propane.

Refrigeration lubricants are packaged in several standard volume options to fit routine maintenance or complete system overhauls. Available formats include quart containers, gallon cases, 5-gallon pails, 55-gallon drums, and bulk 275-gallon or 330-gallon totes.

Formulations in this category are non-toxic and non-hazardous industrial fluids. They are engineered with high flash and auto-ignition points to enhance plant safety while protecting components against wear, rust, and internal corrosion.
