An oil analysis uncovers underlying issues that could lead to compressor failure before an unplanned shutdown occurs. Reports reveal lubricant condition, oxidation, temperature issues, moisture ingress, contamination, particle count, debris, and additive levels. Advanced failure-tier evaluations add analytical ferrography, ferrous density, and elemental analysis to identify the exact source and root cause of component degradation or machine malfunction.

Oil samples should fill the ready-to-use sample bottles supplied by your representative. Specific fluid volume requirements depend on the requested test tier, but collecting fluid directly into the provided sample bottle from an active sampling point ensures sufficient volume for standard diagnostic procedures, wear debris assessment, viscosity verification, and water contamination testing across compressor systems.

Testing is structured across four diagnostic tiers. Proactive Stage I tests cover oxidation, temperature, debris, particles, moisture, viscosity, additives, AN/BN, soot, glycol, FTIR, and RPVOT. Proactive Stage II adds density and elemental analysis. Reactive testing diagnoses identified problems using particle counts, wear debris, and vibration data. Samples must be taken from a primary active location on the compressor rather than the sump or an inactive drain point.
